If you ever mess up your iPhone or iPod to the point that you need to restore it and start from scratch, you’ll need to put it into “Recovery Mode.” Start by powering it down — simply hold the home button for 5 seconds and move the slider to the right.

After resisting the temptation for close to a year, I’ve finally decided to jailbreak my iPhone. My main motivation for doing this is to be able to tether my MacBook Pro to my 3G connection. I’d also like to be able to give me kids mobile internet access for their iPods and/or netbooks when we’re traveling.

While that might not sound like a huge deal, he has the 64GB model loaded with a ton of movies, and it takes a long time to complete the process.
