Yesterday afternoon, my son reported that his Asus laptop wouldn’t charge. It’s about a year and a half old and has shown no other signs of trouble. A bit of basic troubleshooting suggested that it was the laptop itself, not the charger.
I just ran into an annoying but easily solved problem with our DirecTV system. I went to turn on the TV this morning and got an error message advising me that our TV doesn’t support the program’s content protection. On every channel.
As a quick followup to my earlier post describing the inability to share favorite channels across TVs with the DirecTV Genie whole house DVR… I just wanted to point out that a similar limitation applies to the parental settings.
We just switched from Dish Network to DirecTV for our TV service. I’ve thus spent the past few days familiarizing myself with the system and getting things customized to our tastes. As part of this, I’ve been setting up a custom list of favorite channels.
We’re in the process of switching from Dish Network to DirecTV. Unfortunately, the DirecTV app for iOS doesn’t work on jailbroken devices. I’m not really sure why they bother blocking jailbreakers, but they do. Pretty annoying, huh?

I recently updated the Google app on my iPhone and I have to say… Google Now is pretty cool. Cool enough that it’s now sitting in my launch bar. That being said, I’ve discovered an annoying bug with respect to Bluetooth integration.
