Which wine goes best with turkey and all the fixings? Thanksgiving is just a few days away, so this is a particularly timely question. Unfortunately, I’m far from a wine expert, so I turned to my friend Google for the answer…
Not surprisingly, there are a tremendous number of opinions on turkey/wine pairings. Before going any further, you should ask yourself what sort of wine do you prefer, as that will (or at least should) go a long way toward defining your choice.
If you prefer red wines, then try Pinot Noir, a fruity Merlot, or a nice Shiraz. If you prefer white wines, then try a Rieseling, White Burgundy, Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris), or perhaps a nice, light Chardonnay. Whatever you do, just steer clear of things like a “big” (i.e., full-bodied, rich) Cabernet Sauvignon, which will overpower the meal.
As for us, my wife bought a bottle of Shiraz and I picked up a bottle of Pinot Grigio. We also picked up a bottle of Moscato for dessert. What about you?
