We have a 2004 Honda Odyssey with about 110k miles on it. We’ve never really had any problems with it, and have always taken good care of it. Nonetheless, we just had a bit of a transmission scare.

I just spent the afternoon helping my son recover from a nasty virus on his Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook. We’re still not sure how exactly he got it, but he didn’t tell me about it right away, and his computer wound up completely disabled.
After 12 months of flawless performance, I was disappointed yesterday morning when I discovered that the GPS on my iPhone 3Gs wasn’t working. I had just fired up RunKeeper for my morning run, but couldn’t get a signal.
Our 12 year old’s iPod Touch headphones recently stopped working. More specifically, there was no sound coming out of the right ear. Unfortunately, since these are the same headphones that ship with the iPhone, complete with the on-wire volume control and microphone, they’re not cheap to replace.
We just got back from a long road trip during which we logged nearly 3000 miles. When we make such trips, we depend heavily on our portable car DVD player to entertain the kids. Unfortunately, on the way out of town, we discovered that certain DVDs wouldn’t play.
While trying to restore my iPhone earlier tonight (it’s a long story), I ran into an iTunes error that was preventing me from re-activating my phone. After a bit of digging, however, I stumbled onto the solution.
If you ever mess up your iPhone or iPod to the point that you need to restore it and start from scratch, you’ll need to put it into “Recovery Mode.” Start by powering it down — simply hold the home button for 5 seconds and move the slider to the right.
A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that the toolbars (standard, formatting, reviewing, etc.) were missing from the top of the window in Microsoft Word 2008 for the Mac. I was able to toggle them back on by going to the Toolbars list within the View menu, but that quickly got old. Frustrated, I decided to find a solution.
My son’s iPod Touch has been been giving us a bit of trouble recently. Whenever he plugs it in, it claims to be synchronizing but instead it re-copies everything. While that might not sound like a huge deal, he has the 64GB model loaded with a ton of movies, and it takes a long time to complete the process.
As I noted in an earlier post, we recently bought a new Sony Bravia LCD TV – the KDL-46W5100 to be exact. Unfortunately, in the time we’ve owned it, I’ve the screen has gone black a couple of times while watching a DVD. Worried that we might have a defective TV, I decided to investigate.
