Sort Order of Special Characters

As a followup to my post about changing the sort order of notebooks in Evernote, here is a rundown of the sort order of various character types on MacOS…

Sort order of commonly used characters:

!"#$%&'()*+,-./09:;<=>?@[\]^_`AaZz{|}~

This was done by creating notes with titles that started with the above characters and then sorting them alphabetically. If I’m not mistaken, the sort order is the same for the Windows client.

Unfortunately, it seems that the iOS sort order is different…

`^_-,;:!?.'"()[]{}@*/\&#%+<=>!~$09AaZz

And it’s different yet again (though less so) on the web interface:

!"#$%&'()*+,-./09:;<=>?@AaZz[\]^_`{|}~

This means that you have to be careful if you want your notebooks to sort consistently across multiple platforms (Mac, PC, iPhone, web).
