Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) Does Not Include Rosetta

by Michael on July 11, 2011 · 0 comments

In case you haven’t heard… The next version of Mac OS X (10.7; Lion) will not support PowerPC apps, as it doesn’t include Rosetta. This is likely a non-issue for most of you, as the majority of apps have been updated to run on Intel chips.

There are, however, a small number of key applications, including things like Quicken 2005/2006/2007, that still require Rosetta in order to run. Sadly, once you upgrade to Lion, they’ll stop working.

Just thought I’d warn you so you can find a replacement or hold off on updating if you rely on an affected piece of software.
