My son got a new phone yesterday – the HTC Freestyle. All in all, this is a pretty slick little phone, though he ran into a snag today… He couldn’t get the phone to unlock and give him access beyond the lock screen.
When he woke it up, he’d get the “Drag down to unlock” message, but when we tried to unlock it, the phone would vibrate briefly and not respond. When he told me about the problem, he also told me that he had added a passcode to keep his brothers from messing with it, but we couldn’t get the passcode screen to come up.
After briefly flipping through the manual trying to figure out how to power cycle the phone, I decided to just force a reboot by popping the battery out. And just a few seconds later, we were good to go. The passcode lock screen came up, I entered the code, and I was in.
From there, I disabled the passcode lock – at least for the time being. I’m still not sure if it was the passcode lock that created the problem, or if it was just a random glitch. Either way, we’re back in business.
