Over the weekend, I decided to clean up a few things on our XBox 360. The kids are in the habit of creating a new profile whenever they have a friend over, etc. so our list of profiles was getting a bit unwieldy. Unfortunately, it’s not obvious how to delete profiles from the XBox 360 dashboard. After a bit of poking around, however, I figured it out.
How to delete profiles from your XBox 360
- Go to “My XBox“
- Choose “System Settings“
- Choose “Memory“
- Choose “Hard Drive“
- Choose “Gamer Profiles“
- Select the profile you want to get rid of and choose “Delete“
- Select “Delete Profile Only,” or “Delete Profile and Items“
That’s it. It only takes a few seconds once you know where to look. Thanks to Microsoft for making this so hard to find. Note that these instructions refer to the new XBox 360 interface that was released in the fall of 2008. I never tried doing this prior to the update, but it can’t be too different.
