Just another quick Microsoft Office tip for you Mac users… I was just making a chart in Excel 2008 and it took me awhile to figure out how to add a label to the Y-axis. In the end, it turned out to be frustratingly simple…
For starters, make sure that your “Toolbox” is open. If it’s not, simply click on the “Toolbox” button in the toolbar (nestled between the “Gallery” button and “Zoom” field) to open it.
Once your “Toolbox” is open, make sure the “Formatting Palette” is active/visible (if not click the leftmost tab). From there, simply click on the chart of interest to highlight it and look at “Titles” in the “Chart Options” subsection.
From here, you can select the “Chart Title,” “Vertical (Value) Axis,” or “Hortizontal (Category) Axis” and customize the text. To change the formatting, simply double-click on the resulting title to pull up the customization window.
That’s it. Very easy once you know what you’re looking for.
