Eczema Treatment: Try Using Olive Oil

Our youngest son has terrible problems with dry skin and eczema during the winter months. The cool dry air is just too much for him, and he gets dry, itchy skin on the insides of his elbows, back of his knees, etc.

We’ve tried switching him from soap to Cetaphil skin cleanser, using specialty lotions (like Aveeno Baby), having him bathe less frequently, and applying cortisone cream. Unfortunately, none of these things have helped.

We’ve also taken him to the dermatologist, who prescribed triaminoclone acetonide cream, but that didn’t help, either.

And then I decided to try something new… I started applying olive oil to his eczema every night before bed, and guess what? He’d wake up in the morning and his skin would be significantly better.

In fact, after just a few nights of this, his eczema was essentially gone. I can’t guarantee this will work for you, but it’s certainly worth a try.
