Does your iPhone append “Sent from my iPhone” to your outgoing e-mails? While there are good reasons for alerting people that you’re writing from a mobile device, you might want to remove or modify the default message. If so, read on…
For starters, let’s consider the reasons for including a message of this sort. Perhaps you have fat fingers and want to explain away your typos. Or perhaps you send very brief messages from your phone and don’t want to offend the recipients.
That’s all well and good, but the “Sent from my iPhone” does come off as a bit pretentious. As in “Hey, look at me, I have an iPhone!” So why not ditch it or at least change it?
To do so, simply open the Settings app and select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars“. From there, scroll down to “Signature“. Tap that, delete or modify the text, and hit the “Mail…” button in the upper left corner to commit the changes. That’s it.
Mine now simply states:
Sent via mobile phone.
What about yours?
