One of the questions that my wife had for me when comparing the Amazon Kindle to the Apple iPad was whether or not you can surf the web on the Kindle. The short answer is yes, you can surf the web on an Amazon Kindle.
The longer answer is that it’s not a great experience. The primary drawback is the Kindle’s e-ink display. As great as it is for reading, e-ink just isn’t very good for web surfing. As you might imagine, it has some trouble displaying complex websites, and it tends to render things fairly slowly.
On the plus side, the free 3G functionality – assuming that you buy the wifi + 3G model – means that you can access the internet for free from anywhere that you can get an AT&T signal.
