After setting up our Brother 2170W wireless laser printer and playing with it, I noticed that we were getting little tick marks (or dashes) along the right edge of printed pages. Bummer. The good news is that it was a temporary problem.
The spacing of the tick marks (every inch and a half or so) was perfectly regular, which suggested that we had a spot of toner or other gunk on one of the rollers. We’ve otherwise been very happy with the printer, so I was hoping this was just a temporary glitch.
Well… Here we are just two days after setting up the printer, and the problem has already resolved itself. After printing about 20 pages, we’re no longer seeing the tick marks. Whatever the cause, this seems to be a temporary problem. If you’re seeing something similar, give it a bit of time before you send it back.
